About Us

We are two certified yoga teachers who strive to create and share a space with our local Yoga community; a space where we, the teachers, can share creatively and independently while working together as a team. Our offering to you, the community, is to share what has brought so much inspiration into our hearts and into our everyday lives.

200HR RYT, B.A.A. (Child & Youth Study)
Continuing Ed: Pelvic Floor Workshop, Usui Reiki Level 1

Tanya was thrilled to join the teaching team at Lower Sackville Yoga in 2018. She began exploring the practice of yoga on the recommendation that it would support her hobby of running while she trained for local races. It wasn’t long into her practice before she discovered that yoga not only eased her tight muscles, but her heart and mind too.

Having experienced many of the benefits of a regular practice, Tanya decided that she wished to share yoga with others. She completed her teacher training in an alignment-based style of Hatha Yoga. Tanya’s classes truly come from her playful heart as she skillfully guides, supports, and encourages students in an inviting and inclusive atmosphere.

Much has changed over the last few years, but in March 2023 Tanya is returning to teaching after a medical leave with a new appreciation and approach to the classes she wishes to share. It is Tanya's hope that students feel welcomed in her classes, enjoy the time spent in community and are inspired to continue exploring in their yoga practices.

She loves slinging cards, playing in the dirt of her vegetable garden, and never turns down an opportunity to jump in mud puddles or chalk on sidewalks with the neighborhood children. Tanya has been a resident of Sackville for 20+ years where she and her husband, Glen, raise their four children.

200HR RYT
Continuing Ed: Multiple 25HR Ashtanga Teacher Training with Manju Jois, 20HR Radiant Child, 40HR Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra, 60HR Yin Yoga, 50 HR Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher

Yoga came into Andrea’s life around 17 years ago. After months of being in an anxious state with a racing heart, she realised that at points during yoga class her heart rate was normal! This breakthrough moment of awareness led to yoga becoming a regular part of her routine and sparked a desire to study and learn more. Yoga has been part of her life ever since, both on and off the mat.

Andrea has a personal practice in various styles of yoga - challenging yet nurturing Vinyasa flowy days, deeply restorative Yin days, and some mostly meditative days too. Yoga Nidra is a practice she adores and one of her favourite things to share - especially with her friend Terra and her Himalayan Singing Bowls (see Nidra and Sound).

Andrea approaches her yoga practice and teaching as an opportunity to nurture the needs of the whole person - body, mind and spirit. She is known for making all students feel welcome and offering options to allow students to move in ways that feel good in their bodies.

When she isn’t teaching she can usually be found somewhere in nature, a tea latte in hand and smile on her face. She also loves channeling her inner monkey on the Aerial Silks and in the summer you’ll probably find her out on a lake around town on her paddleboard.
