at Awaken Home Studio, 508 Waterstone Run
This workshop is designed with the absolute beginner in mind! After this afternoon, you will be prepared to confidently enter any of the All Levels classes offered at Lower Sackville Yoga.
The workshop will cover topics including:
Poses you will see in many yoga classes
Connecting the breath, body and mind
The do’s and don’ts of attending class
Brief introduction to meditation
Plenty of time to ask questions
You may have questions for us before you attend the workshop.

What do I need to bring to the Intro to Yoga workshop?
You will need a yoga mat (although we have a few you can borrow if you don’t have one, just let us know), a water bottle and a light snack for break time.
Where is the Intro to Yoga workshop?
The workshop will be held at Awaken Vibrational Sound Therapy Studio at 508 Waterstone Run off of Lucasville Road. Our friend Terra, from Awaken, has created a warm, inviting and beautiful home studio. We are excited to share the workshop in this lovely space where we can explore yoga in a safe, accepting, and non judgmental environment.
What if I can’t touch my toes? ...stand on my head? ...wrap my foot behind my ears?
Perfect! If you could do these things, we’d have nothing to show you at the workshop! On a serious note, yoga is a practice. YOUR PRACTICE! We will guide you through gentle movements, called poses, that are suitable for a beginner’s practice and are safely adaptable to meet everyone’s body where it is.
Wait a minute, the Intro to Yoga workshop is 3 hours long? Will we be moving the ENTIRE time?
Although we will be moving a lot of the time, the day is planned to allow for breaks and you are always welcome to add extra breaks as you need. We will also have quieter parts of the day to take a quick peek at meditation and of course, we wouldn’t offer an Intro to Yoga workshop without including ample time to explore everyone’s favorite pose - Savasana! (This is the one where you lay down and totally relax).
I have an old injury that has prevented me from participating in other physical activities. Will I be able to practice yoga?
If this is of concern for you, please drop us an email and we can discuss. Many students use yoga as a tool to keep aches and pains at bay, including us!
How will this Intro to Yoga prepare me for future yoga classes?
It is our hope that you leave the workshop feeling confident to join any of our other classes at Lower Sackville Yoga. We even provide you with a free class pass at the end of the workshop for you to use at our other classes.
